Kuje chairman sets up contracts, projects verification c’ttees

Daily Trust - - BUSINESS - By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Mr Abdulahi Galadima, has inaugurated two separate committees to verify contracts and Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects under the past administration of the council.

The first committee, which has nine members, would deal with contracts verification matters while that of PPP has eight.

The chairman, while inaugurating the committees, urged them to find out why the council had N1.6bn contract liabilities and owed salaries of workers.

He said that the council has inherited numerous litigations over nonpayment of contracts fees, thereby preventing his administration from fulfilling its campaign promises to the people.

“I have said, repeatedly, that the administration is not trying to witch -hunt anybody,” he said. “Rather, it is out to redeem the council from its present situation.

“The council is in default of two months’ salaries to its workers, while administration has been seriously hampered,” he said.
