Daily Trust - - JOBS & CAREERS - Text from Bashir Liman, Jos

The Plateau state female youths have been sensitized on legal rights, peace building and gender equality under ‘The UN Women’, a project funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Entity.

The Gender Technical Adviser, Plateau State on the Women, Peace & Security Programme of UN Women, Sewuese Surma while addressing audience during Planning and Orientation Workshop with community based women peace mentors at Lamonde Hotel in Jos, has said they organized the workshop to enlighten female youths on gender equality and legal rights.

She lamented that women are vulnerable to violence but due to insufficient knowledge on their rights they will not take it to relevant authorities to fight their case.

Surma tasked women to know their legal rights and urged them to speak out when they were abused or violated while calling on the Federal, states government and security agencies to support agency on the protection of women and children.
