Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has shrugged off the impeachment threat against him, saying there is no such plot.

The governor was speaking to State House correspondents late Wednesday night after a meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) which was held at the Old Banquet of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Yari, who is also the chairman of the governors’ forum, said not only had the State House of Assembly denied plotting his impeachment, but had also described it as a misunderstanding.

The governor, who maintained that his state was at peace, however, noted that in any democracy, everyone could be hurt.

“Even the state assembly says there is no such move, and that there was a misunderstanding. But you know it is democracy we are practising and everyone can be hurt. We are peaceful,” Yari said.
