Chair­man, sec­re­tary sus­pended for fight­ing over coun­cil’s N300,000

The Ji­gawa State Govern­ment has sus­pended the chair­man and sec­re­tary of Sule-Tankarkar Lo­cal govern­ment coun­cil for gross mis­con­duct.

The Coun­cil Chair­man, Na­sidi Ab­dul­lahi and his Sec­re­tary, Mo­hammed Abubakar Sa’id were en­gaged in a scuf­fle fol­low­ing dis­agree­ment while shar­ing N300,000 from the lo­cal govern­ment coun­cil trea­sury, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment by the Com­mis­sioner for Lo­cal Gov­ern­ments, Ahmed Mo­hammed, who said a com­mit­tee had been con­sti­tuted to in­ves­ti­gate the in­ci­dent.

“The two prin­ci­pal of­fi­cers have been sus­pended from of­fice and a five-mem­ber com­mit­tee has been set up by the govern­ment to in­ves­ti­gate the re­mote cause of the mis­un­der­stand­ing be­tween the two of­fi­cers. The com­mit­tee is ex­pected to for­ward rec­om­men­da­tions on the dis­ci­plinary ac­tion to be taken,” the com­mis­sioner stated.
