CITY NEWS Police arrest car snatcher at Kubwa
The police have arrested a suspected car snatcher and recovered two pistols at Kubwa, Abuja.
A police source, who spoke to City News, said that the suspect and his accomplice, now at large, had snatched a Honda 2008 model car from a resident at gunpoint near the NNPC junction, close to the pedestrian bridge on Saturday, around 9:47 p.m.
“The driver of the car took oneway and just as he reached NNPC junction, two people accosted him and demanded him to surrender the car to them,” the source said.
“They pointed a gun at him and without resistance, he surrendered the car to them. He, however, raised an alarm and some Good Samaritans alerted the police patrol team who pursued the suspects and recovered the car.”
The source added that the suspects abandoned the car and took to their heels when they saw the police patrol van coming after them. He said that one of the suspects was arrested while his accomplice escaped.
When contacted on phone, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kubwa, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said that the suspect was in police custody and he has confessed to the crime.
“The suspect is cooperating with our men,” Sabo said.
“He confessed to snatching a Toyota Corolla before the current incident. He also took our men to his hideout in Byazhin Across where we recovered two pistols with four rounds of ammunition.”
