Shehu of Bama’s wife, daugh­ter res­cued from in­sur­gents

A queen and a princess of Shehu of Bama in Borno State, who were ab­ducted by in­sur­gents al­most two years ago, have been res­cued by the mil­i­tary in Borno.

The Gen­eral Com­mand­ing of­fi­cer of 7 Divi­sion of the Nige­rian Army, Brig. Gen. Vic­tor Ezugwu handed over the queen and her daugh­ter to the Shehu of Bama, Al­haji Umar IBN Kyari El-kanemi at his res­i­dence in Maiduguri yes­ter­day.

Daily Trust gath­ered that the queen and two chil­dren were ab­ducted when in­sur­gents in­vaded Bama town two years ago, and that one of the two ab­ducted chil­dren, a male, had been killed by the in­sur­gents, while the mil­i­tary res­cued the wife of the Bama monarch and the fe­male child around the Dam­boa axis on Sun­day.

“We are happy to see the wife and daugh­ter of our Royal High­ness back af­ter their ab­duc­tion in Bama on 1st Septem­ber 2014, but we are sober be­cause the son of the royal fa­ther who was ab­ducted along with the queen has been killed,” one of the visi­tors to the res­i­dence said.

The dig­ni­taries who vis­ited the res­i­dence in­cluded the wife of the Borno State Gov­er­nor, Nana Sht­tima, and the Deputy Gov­er­nor, Us­man Durkwa.

Jour­nal­ists were not al­lowed into the res­i­dence of the Shehu of Bama.
