Shi’ites de­mand re­lease of Zakzaky

Mem­bers of the Is­lamic Move­ment in Nige­ria, also known as Shi’ites, have de­manded the im­me­di­ate re­lease of its de­tained leader, Sheikh Ibra­heem El-Zakzaky, for med­i­cal at­ten­tion.

Ad­dress­ing a press con­fer­ence yes­ter­day in Kaduna, the Co­or­di­na­tor of the Re­source Fo­rum of IMN , Pro­fes­sor Ab­dul­lahi Dan­ladi, said it had be­come clear that the Nige­rian au­thor­i­ties were not both­ered about the health of Zazaky.

Dan­ladi said, “While the se­cu­rity agents re­cently told a Fed­eral High Court sit­ting in Abuja that they were de­tain­ing him with his con­sent in pro­tec­tive cus­tody and that they had spent close to N5 mil­lion on him , ev­i­dence glar­ingly point to the con­trary, that the Sheikh is be­ing held and al­lowed to grad­u­ally loose his sight and die in de­ten­tion.”

He ex­pressed the con­cerns of the move­ment about the health of their leader, and their ur­gent wish that he be re­leased for proper med­i­cal at­ten­tion.
