Shi’ites demand release of Zakzaky
Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites, have demanded the immediate release of its detained leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, for medical attention.
Addressing a press conference yesterday in Kaduna, the Coordinator of the Resource Forum of IMN , Professor Abdullahi Danladi, said it had become clear that the Nigerian authorities were not bothered about the health of Zazaky.
Danladi said, “While the security agents recently told a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that they were detaining him with his consent in protective custody and that they had spent close to N5 million on him , evidence glaringly point to the contrary, that the Sheikh is being held and allowed to gradually loose his sight and die in detention.”
He expressed the concerns of the movement about the health of their leader, and their urgent wish that he be released for proper medical attention.
