Po­lice ar­rest man over mi­nor’s tor­ture

The po­lice have ar­rested a man iden­ti­fied as Ikechukwu Mo­rah for al­legedly tor­tur­ing his wife’s 15-year-old younger brother at Kubwa.

A po­lice source told City News that the sus­pect was ar­rested af­ter the boy’s teacher at Govern­ment Sec­ondary School Kubwa, re­ported the in­ci­dent at the Kubwa divi­sional po­lice sta­tion.

“The teacher saw the vic­tim in pains and when he asked him what was the mat­ter with him he re­fused to an­swer. The teacher went close and he saw burns on the boy’s chest and it was then the teacher learnt that the un­cle used hot iron to tor­ture the boy on the chest,” the source said.

City News learnt that the vic­tim is an or­phan.

When con­tacted, the Kubwa DPO, CSP Nu­rud­deen Sabo said the sus­pect was ar­rested but re­leased so that he could treat the vic­tim.

“He (sus­pect) has con­fessed to the crime, say­ing that the boy is stub­born and he wanted to teach him a les­son. We have given him grace to treat the boy af­ter which he will be charged to court,” Sabo added.
