Again, mil­i­tants at­tack La­gos com­mu­nity

Sus­pected mil­i­tants yes­ter­day raided Fa­toki, Obadore and Egan, in Igando area of La­gos, cart­ing away valu­ables.

The at­tack was im­me­di­ately fol­lowed by a shootout be­tween the sus­pected mil­i­tants and po­lice­men from the Igando Po­lice Divi­sion.

The area un­der at­tack is about five min­utes away from Iba town, where the monarch, the Oniba of Iba, Oba Yushau Go­ri­ola Oseni, was kid­napped penul­ti­mate Sun­day.

The com­mu­nity just at­tacked is bor­dered by wa­ter, which made it sus­cep­ti­ble to at­tacks from the dreaded mil­i­tants be­lieved to live in the sur­round­ing creeks.

Some wit­nesses al­leged that the armed sus­pects ar­rived the quiet town on speed boats around 7.30 am yes­ter­day.

A wit­ness, Ojo Oladele told Daily Trust that a num­ber of per­sons were in­jured in the cross­fire be­tween po­lice­men and the mil­i­tants.

Oladele said, “Apart from cart­ing away food stuffs, they stole gen­er­a­tors, tele­vi­sions, lap­tops and re­frig­er­a­tors.”
