Kwara dis­qual­i­fies 7 in­tend­ing pil­grims over preg­nancy

The Kwara State Mus­lim Pil­grims Wel­fare Board said it has dis­qual­i­fied seven in­tend­ing fe­male pil­grims from per­form­ing this year’s Hajj for get­ting preg­nant.

The Ex­ec­u­tive Sec­re­tary of the Board, Ha­jia Fa­timah Abolore-Ji­moh, dis­closed this in llorin dur­ing an in­ter­view with our cor­re­spon­dent, saying the seven preg­nant women who had paid their Hajj fares in full were de­tected af­ter the med­i­cal screen­ing con­ducted by the board.

The Ex­ec­u­tive Sec­re­tary said the board could not guar­an­tee the safety of the seven women and their un­born ba­bies while in the holy land.

“The seven preg­nant women de­tected dur­ing the med­i­cal screen­ing have been dis­qual­i­fied be­cause it a risk to al­low them make the holy trip”, she said, adding that the board was ready to re­turn the fares paid by the af­fected women.
