Hajj commission screens 916 intending pilgrims
The Kogi State Hajj Commission yesterday commenced the screening of 916 intending Muslim pilgrims from the state to ascertain their fitness for this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Speaking at the flag-off in Okene, Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Sadiq Muhammad Rabiu, said the screening was to determine their health conditions and their status as Muslims.
“We want to be sure that those who want to perform the Hajj have completed their payments and that they are good Muslims. We want to ascertain also that they are in good health. Some may be hypertensive or diabetic. Our medical team needs to know and prepare for such cases”, he said, warning pilgrims against carrying kola nuts.
