Nigeria, the comedian of the universe

Daily Trust - - OPINION -

Nigeria is a country filled with jokers (apologies to the few genuine ones, there are genuine ones making positive impact) but the majority are jokers, just waiting for opportunity to pounce on the national cake and thereafter ruin the nation. Why we are jokers; One, for over 30 years we’ve been hearing that the Ajaokuta Steel Co., is 70% completed, up till now it still remains so, this project should have gotten to the fourth phase producing over 20 million tons of steel & possibly employing over 10,000 people; Two, countries with population of 30 million or less are producing over 30,000mw of electricity, but Nigeria is still battling with only 3,000mw, we don’t currently have an electricity master plan and no ambitious dream like setting aside $20b for electricity projects, which means we shall continue to hover in darkness for a long time. The big question is that when are we going to be serious, no wonder Donald Trump said Africa should be re-colonised, when he said this, Nigeria was on his mind.
