Three village heads have been suspended over alleged diversion of food for distribution to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Buni yadi, Gujba local government area of Yobe state.

The affected leaders are the two village heads of Hausari and Ngomari, Lawan Alhaji Hassan and Lawan Ngawari, and Sarkin Fulanin Gujba, Alhaji Haro.

Chairman, Gujba Local Government Area, Alhaji Kyari Batarama, confirmed to Daily Trust that the monarchs were suspended for breach of trust in handling food items entrusted to them for distribution to IDPs in Buni yadi.

“They diverted the food items donated by government for distribution to the IDPs in Buni yadi. It’s quite embarrassing, so we channelled the case to the Emir of Gujba, and action was taken against them,” he said
