The natives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the auspices of the Gbali Liberation Association (GBALA) have appealed to the FCT Minister, Mohammed Musa Bello, over a plan to carry out demolition at Iddo Bubuta, along Airport Road.

Addressing journalists, GBALA chairman, Mr. Dikko Zaphaniyah, said some development control officials were in the community to inform them of the planned demolition.

He said the FCDA officials told the community that the demolition was necessitated by complaints from the management of the University of Abuja that the village was sited on the institution’s land.

“And besides, there was no letter either from the university’s management or the FCDA to back up the claim that Iddo Bubuta village is sited on the land of the University of Abuja. This is the reason why we are urgently calling on the FCT minister, Mohammed Musa Bello, to intervene,” he said.

Also speaking on the matter, the Chief of Iddo Bubuta village, Yakubu Musa Alkali, urged the minister to intervene and address the matter in the interest of peace and stability.

He said the demolition has been creating tension in the community.
