‘Li­braries build good so­ci­eties’

The Min­is­ter of Ed­u­ca­tion Malam Adamu Adamu yes­ter­day said li­braries pro­vide knowl­edge to the cit­i­zens as well as ideas and ser­vices which help com­mu­ni­ties to ad­dress their challenges.

The min­is­ter, rep­re­sented by the Na­tional Li­brar­ian Malam Habib Jato made the re­marks dur­ing the an­nual gen­eral meet­ing and con­fer­ence of Nige­rian Li­brary As­so­ci­a­tion in Abuja. He said li­braries were rel­e­vant in the pro­vi­sion of in­for­ma­tion ser­vice for so­cio-eco­nomic, po­lit­i­cal and cul­tural de­vel­op­ment of a na­tion. He said li­braries were com­po­nent of de­vel­op­ment.
