- By Linus Effiong, Umuahia

The Police Command in Abia state yesterday confirmed the death of one Chinedu Peters, 36, who was allegedly killed by a police corporal in Aba.

Police Public Relations Officer Abia Command DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna said the policeman alleged to have involved in the shooting was now in detention.

Narrating the incident, Peter’s girlfriend who was with him at the time the deceased was allegedly shot, said, “A group of policemen were on duty last night in front of Christ the King Cathedral, Aba. They stopped our vehicle and ordered us to come out. We were asked to lie down on the floor which they also did. Then the policemen told the only Hausa man in their midst to stand up and leave. The deceased stood up out of anger and began to ask why the Hausa man should be asked to go. The police corporal got angry and shot him.”
