A’Ibom police command gets new PPRO

A new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, has been appointed for the Akwa Ibom Police Command following the transfer out of the state of the former (PPRO) DSP Cordelia Nwawe.

Presenting the DSP Ikechukwu to newsmen at the Police headquarte­rs in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo the state capital, the state’s Commission­er of Police, Donald Awunah, urged the new PPRO to bring his experience and expertise to bear in boosting the command.

The Commission­er urged Ikechukwu to enhance police-community relations and between the state’s Police Command and the public.

The new PPRO is a holder of B.sc (Hons) degree in Economics from the University of Uyo and Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administra­tion from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

He was enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force as a cadet ASP on 3rd August 2009 as a member of Cadet ASP Course 23/2009. On completion of the 18 months cadet officers’ training, Ikechukwu was deployed to Kebbi State Command from where he was transferre­d to Akwa Ibom State Command in April, 2013.

DSP Ikechukwu has held many administra­tive and operationa­l positions in the course of his career which include Crime Officer, Administra­tive Officer, Traffic Officer, Patrol Officer, Guard Officer, among others. He has also attended a number of courses among which is the UN peace keeping course at the Kofi Annan Internatio­nal Peace Keeping Center, Accra Ghana in 2013.

Prior to his present posting to Akwa Ibom as the new PPRO, he was the Divisional Crime Officer, ‘A’ Division Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.

Ikechuwu hails from Abia State.
