- From Usman A. Bello, Benin

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has ordered the suspension of Odionwere of Evbiekoi village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, Pa Igbinake Aghaku, for allegedly violating the cultural norms and practices of Benin Kingdom.

Oba Ewuare II gave the order at the weekend in his Palace while mediating on a complaint brought to the Palace by Ohen N’ Ukoni of Evbiekoi accusing the Odionwere of still operating the banned Community Development Association (CDA).

He directed the second in command in the community, Pa Airenmwinkiekie Imasuen, to assume the position of Odionwere, and warned youths still parading themselves as CDA members in Evbiekoi and other towns and villages in Benin Kingdom to desist from it.
