FCTA urges residents to stop patronising drug hawkers
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has urged residents to desist from patronising drug vendors and peddlers.
The Acting Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Mrs. Alice Odey- Achu who made this known while flagging off a public enlightenment and awareness campaign against fake and counterfeit drugs said residents should only buy drugs from certified pharmacies.
Mrs. Achu, who was represented by the department’s Director of Pharmacy, Hauwa Kulu Ibrahim, said the department chose motor park because it was observed that drugs were often hawked and sold at motor parks.
She advised residents not to buy drugs without a doctor’s prescription and that they should insist on knowing the date of manufacture, expiry date and NAFDAC registration number of all drugs before making payment.
The campaign which was held at Karu Motor Park was oganised by the of FCT task force on counterfeit and fake drugs.
