11 suspected kidnappers, cultists nabbed

- From Hope Abah, Makurdi

The police in Benue State have arrested 11 people on suspicion of kidnapping and cultism in different locations across the state.

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, who paraded the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Makurdi, said the victims of the kidnappers were rescued unhurt.

Makama further explained that acting on a tip off, the men of Operation Zenda raided a criminal hideout of notorious armed robbers and kidnappers.

Among those arrested are Bem Uga, known as Jugas Junior, and Oraondo, also called Bishop, at Abaji Town in Katsina Ala Local Government Area, and that his men also apprehended four suspects in the process while others escaped with bullet wounds.

He said after a gun duel, the kidnapped victim, Vincent Agu, popularly called Deskon, the Director of Solex Water in Katsina Ala, who was earlier kidnapped with his son, was rescued unhurt without payment of any ransom, adding that the kidnappers belonged to the wanted ‘Ghana’ gang.
