Igbo youths advised to de-emphasise Biafra
A new socio-political pressure group, the Igbo Presidency 2019, has advised youths in the South East, especially those agitating for Biafra Republic, to always deemphasise regional sentiments and work towards a stronger Nigeria.
The group said youths in the South East should also think of total industrialisation of the region by holding their public office holders at various levels accountable for all monies accrued to the region.
Austin Charles Uyamadu, who is one of the coordinators of the group, while speaking during the inauguration of the movement, said they believed that it was not enough for the youth to be attacking the Federal Government even when leaders from the zone had not done enough with the resources at their disposal.
“All the monies that have been coming from the federation account, what have they been doing with it? Every month, every year, the monies keep coming in but what have they been doing with the allocations? What have they been doing with the security votes coming to them?” he asked.
“We cannot be looking at the Federal Government all the time, abusing it with hate speeches. What are our senators doing? What are our rep. members doing? Let us start from first holding them accountable. By the time we get serious, and the development of the zone gathers momentum, we won’t even be thinking of the government at the centre,” Uyamadu said.
