Taraba attack victims yet to get medication, relief materials

Victims of recent attacks in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State are yet to get medication and relief materials.

A spokesman of the Fulani community, Alhaji Hassan Ardo, reiterated to Daily Trust in an interview that no relief materials and medication had been provided by the Taraba State Government to the victims of the attacks.

He said the wounded were in serious need of medical attention while there was also the need for supply of food and clothing.

The spokesman, ambassador designate, an said 40 of his relations were killed by the Mambilla militiamen while his village Hainare was completely burnt down.

He said part of the community residing in Jalingo, Abuja and other places had contribute­d money to provide some materials and drugs but the state government had not provided any assistance to the victims.

Hassan Ardo explained that helicopter­s were needed to reach areas with difficult terrain to evacuate some of the wounded and children who could not be transporte­d on motor cycles to Gembu Town.

He said however that those who managed to cross to Cameroon were given good care by the authoritie­s of that country.

Contacted, the Press Secretary to the state governor, Mallam Hassan Mijinyawa, said three trucks loaded with relief materials that included bags of rice and beans provided by the state government left Jalingo Sunday night and were close to the beneficiar­ies.
