AU supports Nigeria’s fight against terrorism
The African Union Peace and Security Council has assured Nigeria of its backing in the fight against Boko Haram.
Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to AU, who led a delegation of the council to seven cities in the Lake Chad region, gave the assurance yesterday during a ministerial roundtable meeting with the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama in Abuja.
Bankole said the delegation was in Nigeria to have a firsthand knowledge of the security situation in the Lake Chad Basin, as well as the humanitarian crisis occasioned by Boko Haram activities.
The minister thanked AU for supporting the struggle against “one of the deadliest terrorist groups in the world.”
