Assem­bly urges com­mu­ni­ties to va­cate flood-prone ar­eas

The Nasarawa State House of Assem­bly has called on the cit­i­zens liv­ing in flood-prone ar­eas to leave for safer places.

Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe Ab­dul­lahi who spoke when the mem­ber rep­re­sent­ing Kokona East Daniel Ogazi, moved a mo­tion on the need for the peo­ple of the state to take pre­cau­tion due to weather pre­dic­tion by the Nige­rian Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Agency (NiMet), also ad­vised the res­i­dents against in­dis­crim­i­nate dump­ing of refuse es­pe­cially on drainages and un­des­ig­nated sites.

“We are call­ing on the state min­istry of In­for­ma­tion to sen­si­tize and ed­u­cate our peo­ple across the state on the dan­ger of flood­ing so that our peo­ple can take pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sures against this ugly trend,” the speaker said.
