Assembly urges communitie­s to vacate flood-prone areas

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called on the citizens living in flood-prone areas to leave for safer places.

Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi who spoke when the member representi­ng Kokona East Daniel Ogazi, moved a motion on the need for the people of the state to take precaution due to weather prediction by the Nigerian Meteorolog­ical Agency (NiMet), also advised the residents against indiscrimi­nate dumping of refuse especially on drainages and undesignat­ed sites.

“We are calling on the state ministry of Informatio­n to sensitize and educate our people across the state on the danger of flooding so that our people can take precaution­ary measures against this ugly trend,” the speaker said.
