Fire gulps transmission substation in Gusau

Kaduna Electric has said the present electricity outage being experienced around Gusau and nearby local government areas was caused by a fire incident at the Gusau transmission substation under the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

Kaduna Electric spokesman, Abdullazeez Abdullahi, said the fire which occurred last Sunday resulted in the loss of valuable power supply assets.

Therefore, it called for understanding from its customers under the Gusau Area Office, noting that TCN engineers were assessing the extent of the damage so that they could commence repairs and replacement of damaged equipment.

“We commiserate with our sister company, TCN, over their loss and sincerely regret the inconvenience the blackout is causing our esteemed customers. We appeal for your understanding and patience,” Abdullahi said.

Meanwhile, TCN was yet to issue a statement on the incidence as at when filing the report.
