Abia speaker’s aide dis­missed for shoot­ing FRSC of­fi­cial

Cor­po­ral Iroh Orji, the po­lice­man at­tached to the Speaker of the Abia State House of As­sem­bly who penul­ti­mate Satur­day shot an of­fi­cial of the Fed­eral Road Safety Com­mis­sion (FRSC) on the Aba -Port Har­court ex­press­way has been dis­missed by the po­lice.

Orji, said to have been miffed by the con­duct of the FRSC of­fi­cial as he (Orji) was es­cort­ing the wife of the speaker, shot the FRSC of­fi­cial on a day the peo­ple of Isiala Ngwa South, the Speaker’s lo­cal gov­ern­ment area or­ga­nized a re­cep­tion for him.

The Abia State Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, Mr Adel­eye Oye­bade, dis­closed Orji’s dis­missal yes­ter­day be­fore parad­ing 29 sus­pects at the com­mand head­quar­ters in Umuahia, say­ing the con­duct of the of­fi­cer was be­low the ex­pec­ta­tion of the po­lice high com­mand.

“The hi­er­ar­chy of the po­lice has con­demned the ac­tion. Such a per­son should not be one of us,” Oye­bade said.
