Abia speaker’s aide dismissed for shooting FRSC official
Corporal Iroh Orji, the policeman attached to the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly who penultimate Saturday shot an official of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on the Aba -Port Harcourt expressway has been dismissed by the police.
Orji, said to have been miffed by the conduct of the FRSC official as he (Orji) was escorting the wife of the speaker, shot the FRSC official on a day the people of Isiala Ngwa South, the Speaker’s local government area organized a reception for him.
The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeleye Oyebade, disclosed Orji’s dismissal yesterday before parading 29 suspects at the command headquarters in Umuahia, saying the conduct of the officer was below the expectation of the police high command.
“The hierarchy of the police has condemned the action. Such a person should not be one of us,” Oyebade said.
