Tambuwal to pilgrims: Pray against insecurity, recession
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has enjoined intending pilgrims to pray for the end of insecurity and economic recession in Nigeria while in the holy land.
Inaugurating the first flight of pilgrims who left in the early hours of yesterday, Tambuwal also urged them to respect the laws of the Saudi kingdom, according to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Malam Faruk Umar, which said the governor was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
“I want you to pray for the quick recovery of our president and for the end of the current insecurity and recession in the country,” he said.
Earlier, the Director General of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, warned the pilgrims against taking contraband items to the holy land.
