Tam­buwal to pil­grims: Pray against in­se­cu­rity, re­ces­sion

Gov­er­nor Aminu Waziri Tam­buwal of Sokoto State has en­joined in­tend­ing pil­grims to pray for the end of in­se­cu­rity and eco­nomic re­ces­sion in Nige­ria while in the holy land.

Inau­gu­rat­ing the first flight of pil­grims who left in the early hours of yes­ter­day, Tam­buwal also urged them to re­spect the laws of the Saudi king­dom, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment signed by the Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer of the Sokoto State Pil­grims Wel­fare Agency, Malam Faruk Umar, which said the gov­er­nor was rep­re­sented by his deputy, Al­haji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

“I want you to pray for the quick re­cov­ery of our pres­i­dent and for the end of the cur­rent in­se­cu­rity and re­ces­sion in the coun­try,” he said.

Ear­lier, the Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of the Sokoto State Pil­grims Wel­fare Agency, Al­haji Ibrahim Umar, warned the pil­grims against tak­ing con­tra­band items to the holy land.
