Po­lice ar­rest gang­ster for killing own mem­ber

The po­lice in Gombe State yes­ter­day said they have ar­rested a gang leader re­sid­ing at Idi res­i­den­tial area of the me­trop­o­lis, over the death of a 25-year-old mem­ber of his gang.

The de­ceased, Ab­dul­rah­man Garba, was al­legedly killed on Mon­day at the Gombe main mar­ket by the sus­pect, one Al­ha­jijo Mo­hammed, along­side four mem­bers of the group, who are now at large.

Late Garba, who worked as a wash­man, was re­port­edly stabbed on his neck and chest by Mo­hammed and four other mem­bers of the gang group while shar­ing money with them.

The Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer of Gombe State Po­lice Com­mand, DSP Obed Mary Malum, said the de­ceased and the other gang mem­bers had a fierce ar­gu­ment among them while shar­ing the money.

DSP Obed said a team of po­lice­men reached the crime scene and took the vic­tim’s body to the Gombe Spe­cial­ists Hospi­tal where he was pro­nounced dead by a med­i­cal doc­tor.

She said po­lice were get­ting use­ful in­for­ma­tion from the sus­pect, adding that in­ves­ti­ga­tion is still on­go­ing to ar­rest the prin­ci­pal sus­pect and three oth­ers.
