Police arrest gangster for killing own member
The police in Gombe State yesterday said they have arrested a gang leader residing at Idi residential area of the metropolis, over the death of a 25-year-old member of his gang.
The deceased, Abdulrahman Garba, was allegedly killed on Monday at the Gombe main market by the suspect, one Alhajijo Mohammed, alongside four members of the group, who are now at large.
Late Garba, who worked as a washman, was reportedly stabbed on his neck and chest by Mohammed and four other members of the gang group while sharing money with them.
The Police Public Relations Officer of Gombe State Police Command, DSP Obed Mary Malum, said the deceased and the other gang members had a fierce argument among them while sharing the money.
DSP Obed said a team of policemen reached the crime scene and took the victim’s body to the Gombe Specialists Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
She said police were getting useful information from the suspect, adding that investigation is still ongoing to arrest the principal suspect and three others.
