FCT natives block federal secretariat over perm sec slots

Daily Trust - - DIGEST - By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Some FCT natives yesterday barricaded the Federal Secretariat complex in Abuja in a protest over what they said was the exclusion of three natives in the ongoing screening of directors for appointment as permanent secretaries.

The natives, under the aegis of the Coalition of Abuja Indigenous Associations in large numbers carried placards and threatened to take over the office of the Head Of Service.

It was observed that some staff of the secretariat that came to work remained outside while the protest lasted.

The group’s assistant coordinator, Comrade Ezekiel Dalhatu, alleged that the exclusion of the natives from the screening process was a deliberate plan by the Federal Government to continue marginalising them.

Some staff were denied entry into the complex by the protesting youths.
