Man re­manded for rap­ing 8-yr-old girl

A 20-year-old farmer, Yakubu La’ari of Alan­gaf vil­lage, Fune Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area of Yobe State has been re­manded by a Chief Mag­is­trate Court in Da­maturu for de­fil­ing an 8-year-old girl.

Po­lice Prose­cu­tor, Hay­atu Musa, told the court that the fa­ther of the vic­tim re­ported the mat­ter to the Divi­sional Po­lice sta­tion in Da­m­agum on May 31, 2017 say­ing that the ac­cused per­son took his 8-year-old daugh­ter to the bush on bi­cy­cle and force­fully had sex­ual in­ter­course with her.

He said, as a re­sult, the vic­tim sus­tained se­ri­ous in­jury in her pri­vate part, thereby com­mit­ting an of­fense con­trary to sec­tion 246 and 283 of the panel code law.

When the First In­for­ma­tion Re­port was read to the ac­cused, he pleaded not guilty.

The pre­sid­ing Mag­is­trate, Hadiza Lawan Musa, or­dered that the ac­cused be re­manded in court cus­tody un­til Au­gust 7, 2017 for hear­ing.
