Shop owner charged with theft of ten­ant’s N5.6m goods

A 46-year-old shop owner, Oye­sade Oke, who al­legedly stole his ten­ant’s goods worth N5.6 mil­lion, was yes­ter­day charged be­fore a Yaba Chief Mag­is­trates’ Court in La­gos.

He was, how­ever, re­leased on bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Chief Mag­is­trate, Mr P. A. Ojo said the sureties must be blood re­la­tions and should also show ev­i­dence of three years of tax pay­ment.

Po­lice Prose­cu­tor Ro­manus Unuigbe said Oke com­mit­ted the of­fences in Novem­ber 2015.

Unuigbe al­leged that the ac­cused broke into the shop of the com­plainant, Tina Omagbemi, and stole her goods. Oke pleaded not guilty to the charge. The case has been ad­journed un­til Aug. 21 for men­tion. (NAN)
