Governorship aspirants under the APC in Anambra State have commenced sourcing for alternative platforms to further their aspirations in case they failed to secure the party’s ticket.

This was coming on the heels of alleged bribery scandals and favoritism towards some of the aspirants by the party leadership ahead of the August 15 primary election of the party.

A source from the party’s hierarchy, who preferred anonymity, said the party was not ignorant of the move by some aspirants who had already secured nomination forms in other parties where their chances of securing the tickets were high.

“The two political parties where these aspirants were already eyeing are the Independent Democrats(ID) and Labour Party(LP),” the source said.

In a swift reaction, however, chairman of Independent Democrats, Ikechukwu Okafor, refuted the rumor that his party was among those being considered by some APC aspirants as alternative platform.

“Our doors are wide open for anyone who wishes to join us, but we already have our own aspirants. I would not be surprised if Independent Democrats has been penciled down by some aspirants because we are a very strong party in Anambra,” he said.
