APC moves to probe violence in state congresses
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the violence that greeted its last Saturday’s state congresses to elect delegates for the planned national non-elective convention.
The party, in a statement issued by its National Chairman, Chief John OdigieOyegun, yesterday, said it found the violence in Rivers and Kaduna states quite disturbing.
The party, however, stated that most of the state congresses were peaceful and conducted in compliance with guidelines and directives given to the appointed congress committees.
It voiced its regrets and condemnation over the attack on the National Union of Journalist (NUJ) Secretariat in Kaduna, which resulted in injuries to two journalists.
The party promised to investigate the reported cases and take necessary action in line with its constitution against whoever is found culpable.
The party also congratulated and commended all the states whose exercise went peacefully, stating that “where grievances have been reported, the party shall examine such cases and address them accordingly.”
