Ti­j­janiyya urges FG to in­te­grate Tsan­gaya into Western ed­u­ca­tion

The Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment has been urged to de­sign a cur­ricu­lum that will in­te­grate the in­for­mal Tsan­gaya Is­lamic ed­u­ca­tion into the mod­ern ed­u­ca­tional sys­tem in the coun­try.

The call was made in a com­mu­niqué is­sued at the end of a two-day meet­ing of the Supreme Coun­cil of Ti­j­janiyya lead­ers yes­ter­day at Com­mand Guest House Bauchi.

Signed by the Chair­man of the Com­mu­niqué Com­mit­tee and the Sec­re­tary Pro­fes­sor Ab­dul­lahi Okene and Al­haji Nasiru Madaki re­spec­tively, the com­mu­niqué said the in­te­gra­tion of the Tsan­gaya Is­lamic in­for­mal ed­u­ca­tion in Nige­ria will go far in erad­i­ca­tion of pro­lif­er­a­tion of street beg­ging by chil­dren pur­su­ing Qur’anic knowl­edge.

They called on the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment to es­tab­lish Com­mis­sion for Tsan­gaya and Is­lamic Ed­u­ca­tion and ap­point peo­ple with di­rect link with the schools to en­sure proper devel­op­ment.

The Supreme Coun­cil of Ti­j­janiyya agreed that all the Khal­i­fas and Tariqa lead­ers should ed­u­cate the gen­eral pub­lic on the need for mod­ern sys­tem and in­te­gra­tion of Tsan­gaya and Is­lamic ed­u­ca­tion into the mod­ern ed­u­ca­tional sys­tem, and urged the lead­ers and cler­ics to sub­mits de­tails of their Tsan­gaya and Is­lamic Schools to Sheik Dahiru Bauchi Foun­da­tion.

The meet­ing was at­tended by Ti­j­janiyya cler­ics and lead­ers from across the coun­try.
