CRIME Po­lice ar­rest 3 sus­pected rob­bers, re­cover dan­ger­ous items

The Enugu State Po­lice Com­mand has ar­rested three sus­pected rob­bers, who in­flicted in­juries on their vic­tims with dan­ger­ous items.

The dan­ger­ous items re­cov­ered from the sus­pects in­cluded, match­etes, dag­gers, clubs amongst others.

The spokesman of the com­mand, SP Ebere Amaraizu, made the an­nounce­ment in a state­ment is­sued to news­men on Sun­day in Enugu.

Amaraizu said the sus­pects and other mem­bers of their gang at large, had been a torn on the flash of mo­torists on Awka-Ug­wuoba-Oji-River road and its en­vi­rons.

He said the sus­pects were ar­rested on Aug. 5 in their hide­out at Gariki Ug­wuoba by po­lice op­er­a­tives act­ing on in­tel­li­gence.

He gave the names of the sus­pects: as Sale Haruna, Em­manuel Ephraim and Uduku Samp­son.

“The Enugu State Po­lice Com­mand has re­newed its on­slaught against crime and crim­i­nal­ity to en­sure safe and se­cured en­vi­ron­ment in the state.

“On Aug. 5, op­er­a­tives of the com­mand in a co­or­di­nated raid of sus­pected crim­i­nal hide­out in Oji River Di­vi­sion, rounded up and nabbed three iden­ti­fied mem­bers of a rob­bery gang.

“The gang had been a torn on the flesh of mo­torists along Ug­wuoba/Awka/Oji River Road; Enugu-Onit­sha Ex­press­way by Ug­wuoba axis and Oji River gen­eral area.

“The sus­pects with other mem­bers of their gang still at large are be­ing searched for by po­lice op­er­a­tives.

“Mem­bers of the ganf have robbed and in­flicted match­etes and dag­ger in­juries on mo­torists and com­muters,’’ he said.

Amaraizu said the sus­pects are as­sist­ing the po­lice in their in­ves­ti­ga­tions of their ne­far­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties. (NAN)
