- By Taiwo Adeniyi

The police in Gwarinpa, Abuja have arrested a suspected robber and recovered a locally made gun from him.

The suspect is said to have gotten into a fight with a taxi driver over transport fare on Saturday at about 5:00pm leading to the arrest.

Police sources said the suspect had boarded the taxi from Apo but refused to pay the driver when he got to his destination on First Avenue, Gwarinpa.

The source said some residents alerted the police about the incident.

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the officers while mediating between the driver and the suspect searched the suspect and found a locally made gun on him.

He said the suspect must have been among wanted people in connection with some foiled robbery attempts in the same location on Friday.

“On interrogation and search, a locally made pistol was recovered from the passenger who refused to pay the driver his money. The suspect, Philip James is now in custody,” he said.
