UNIZIK ex­pels 15 stu­dents over armed rob­bery, cultism

Au­thor­i­ties of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Univer­sity, Awka, Anam­bra State have ex­pelled 15 stu­dents of from the in­sti­tu­tion over cases of armed rob­bery, ha­rass­ments, cultism, re­sults forgery, among other vices.

A re­lease is­sued from the of­fice of the Vice Chan­cel­lor, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, said the de­ci­sion was reached at the 335th reg­u­lar meet­ing of the in­sti­tu­tion’s man­age­ment, based on a re­port of the Stu­dents Dis­ci­plinary Com­mit­tee in­dict­ing the stu­dents.

The ex­pelled stu­dents were di­rected to sur­ren­der their iden­tity cards and any other prop­erty of the in­sti­tu­tion in their cus­tody to the se­cu­rity depart­ment and keep off en­tirely from the univer­sity premises.

The univer­sity man­age­ment also sus­pended one Vic­tor Mbaegbu of the depart­ment of Science Ed­u­ca­tion for two years over case of phone theft.

Mbaegbu, who was di­rected to visit the psy­chol­ogy depart­ment for both psy­chother­apy and coun­selling, was man­dated to pro­vide ev­i­dence of hav­ing re­ceived ad­e­quate coun­selling be­fore be­ing re­called to the in­sti­tu­tion.
