Daura tells Sani, Hunkuyi to allow El-Rufai work

Daily Trust - - INSIDE POLITICS - From Andrew Agbese, Kaduna

A chieftain of the APC in Kaduna State, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim Daura, has called on senators Shehu Sani and Suleiman Hunkuyi, to stop distracting Governor Nasir el-Rufai from the work he is doing for Kaduna State.

Daura, who stated this at a news conference in Kaduna, said it was not in the interest of the state for senators elected on the same platform with the governor to be fighting him openly.

He said if the two senators had issues they disagreed with, they ought to have engaged the governor in a meaningful dialogue as members of the same party.

He said, “We are having an opposition; he (el-Rufai) is the governor of the state elected on the party’s platform. I don't see any reason why these people are fighting him.

“If they have anything against the governor, they should meet him instead of fighting him on the street. This open fighting is not in the interest of the state. My advice to them, especially the two senators, is to concentrate on the work they were mandated to do and allow the governor to do his work,” he said.

The APC chieftain said it was not true that the governor did not listen to advice. “There is no human being that doesn't take advice and Malam that I know listens to advice,” he said.
