Al-Makura re­vokes 64-kilo­me­tre Gi­tata-Panda-Gurku road

Nasarawa State Gov­er­nor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has re­voked the con­tract for the con­struc­tion of Gi­tata/Panda/Gurku road in Karu Lo­cal Govern­ment Area for the in­abil­ity of the con­trac­tor to com­plete the work ac­cord­ing to spec­i­fi­ca­tions.

Al-Makura who spoke dur­ing the in­stal­la­tion and the pre­sen­ta­tion of 2nd Class Staff of Of­fice to Mr Christo­pher Jatau, the Uehra Ashea of Kube Chief­dom in Panda, Karu LGA, said, “In spite of govern­ment’s ef­forts to en­sure that the con­struc­tion of Gi­tata/ Panda/Gurku road project is com­pleted as sched­uled, the govern­ment is ter­ri­bly dis­ap­pointed by the per­for­mance of the con­trac­tor han­dling it.”

Al-Makura said that the state govern­ment re­voked the road con­tract fol­low­ing the in­abil­ity of the con­trac­tor to com­plete it af­ter he was paid N3.6 bil­lion.

The gov­er­nor said the state govern­ment up­graded the tra­di­tional stool of Uehra Ashea(Koro Chief­dom) from a third to a se­cond class sta­tus for the pro­mo­tion of peace and to give the com­mu­nity a sense of be­long­ing.

Re­spond­ing the Uehra Ashea of Kube Chief­dom Mr. Christo­pher Jatau, ap­plauded the gov­er­nor for up­grad­ing the com­mu­nity stool.
