The Sokoto State House of Assembly has urged the state government to rescue flood ravaged communities in Tambuwal Local Government Area.

This followed a motion by member representing Tambuwal West, Alhaji Sule Romo who said last week’s flood disaster in Barca, Madaci, Bakaya and Maya villages wreaked havoc that needed to be addressed.

Romo said the people were experiencing various forms of hardship with many houses and properties destroyed and farmlands and crops submerged, leaving many inhabitants homeless.

“The areas became flood ravaged for years due to lack of good drainages,” he said, asserting that the reoccurring flood worsened this year and there was the likelihood of outbreak of cholera if urgent measures were not taken.

The motion which was seconded by member representing Tambuwal East, Alhaji Mode Sanyinna, was unanimously adopted by the House.
