UNIZIK clamps down on fake exam re­sults

A to­tal of 15 stu­dents of Nnamdi Azikiwe Univer­sity, Awka, Anam­bra State have been ex­pelled from the in­sti­tu­tion.

The stu­dents were ex­pelled over cases of armed rob­bery, ha­rass­ment, cultism, re­sults forgery, In­dian hemp smok­ing among other vices.

A re­lease from the of­fice of the Vice Chan­cel­lor, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, said the de­ci­sion was reached at the man­age­ment’s 335th reg­u­lar meet­ing, fol­low­ing a re­port of the Stu­dents Dis­ci­plinary Com­mit­tee, in­dict­ing the stu­dents.

The ex­pelled stu­dents were di­rected to sur­ren­der their iden­tity cards and any other prop­erty of the in­sti­tu­tion in their cus­tody to the se­cu­rity depart­ment and to keep off en­tirely from the univer­sity premises.

The univer­sity man­age­ment also sus­pended one Vic­tor Mbaegbu of the Depart­ment of Sci­ence Ed­u­ca­tion for two years over a case of phone theft.

Mbaegbu, who was di­rected to visit the psy­chol­ogy depart­ment for both psy­chother­apy and coun­sel­ing, was asked to pro­vide ev­i­dence of hav­ing re­ceived ad­e­quate coun­sel­ing be­fore be­ing re­called to the in­sti­tu­tion.
