‘Nigeria needs courageous leaders’

- By Misbahu Bashir

The Arewa Youth for Political Renaissance and Research has said Nigeria needs leaders who are courageous enough to rise above egocentric interests and put the nation first.

The group, in a statement jointly signed by its National President, Garba Usman Yusuf and National Secretary, Comrade Abdullahi Musa Rogo, said Nigeria “deserves a leader that has strong character and unbeatable moral compass to always point the way forward for the nation.”

It said the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 had completely altered and restructured the political landmarks; and his promise to fight corruption had changed the way financial and economic activities were being managed.

“Unfortunately, the presidency has fallen into the hands of cabals who are now running the nation. That scenario has crippled and desecrated the entire structure of presidential footprint,” the group said.

The group, therefore, suggested that the absence of President Buhari for more than three months on medical grounds was a very good reason for him to resign.
