>> Gombe gets new Head of Ser­vice

Gov­er­nor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State, has ap­pointed Al­haji Adamu Haruna Abubakar as the new Head of the state Civil Ser­vice.

Abubakar, who was un­til his ap­point­ment, the Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary in the state Min­istry of Land and Sur­vey, suc­ceeded Mr Daniel Musa Mo­hammed, who re­tired from ser­vice last week.

Born on De­cem­ber 30, 1958 at Gadam in present Kwami Lo­cal Govern­ment Area of the state, the new Head of Ser­vice at­tended Gadam Pri­mary School be­tween 1966 and 1973. He pro­ceeded to the Govern­ment Sec­ondary School, Gombe where he ob­tained the West Africa School Cer­tifi­cate in 1977.

He ob­tained a Bach­e­lor of Arts de­gree in His­tory from the Uni­ver­sity of Maiduguri in 1982.

He joined the ser­vices of the old Bauchi State govern­ment on Au­gust 30, 1983 as Ad­min­is­tra­tive Of­fi­cer VII. He was pro­moted to As­sis­tant Direc­tor on April 1, 1994.

Fol­low­ing the cre­ation of Gombe State in 1996, he was de­ployed to the state and got pro­moted to a Deputy Direc­tor on April 1, 1997.

The Head of Ser­vice was a one-time Sole Ad­min­is­tra­tor of Shon­gom LGA and served be­tween July 22, 1998 and May 1999.

On Au­gust 8, 2001 he was pro­moted to Direc­tor of Ad­min­is­tra­tion and Fi­nance, where he served in var­i­ous min­istries. He reached the pin­na­cle of his ca­reer on Jan­uary 21, 2002 when he was ap­pointed as a Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary.
