Anam­bra gov’ship: PDP screens Ifeanyi Ubah, oth­ers

The Peo­ples Demo­cratic Party (PDP) yes­ter­day screened a busi­ness mogul, Ifeanyi Pa­trick Ubah and a for­mer min­is­ter of avi­a­tion, Stella Od­uah, who are con­test­ing its ticket for the Novem­ber 18, 2017 gover­nor­ship election in Anam­bra State.

The party also screened Mr. Alex Obio­golu, Oseloka Henry Obaze, Prince John Okechukwu Emeka, Akolisa Ufodike and Lynda Chuba Ik­peazu.

How­ever, the ap­pear­ance of Ubah at the PDP sec­re­tar­iat gen­er­ated con­tro­versy, con­sid­er­ing that he left the Labour Party (LP) and was said to be a card car­ry­ing mem­ber of the rul­ing All Pro­gres­sives Congress (APC).

Af­ter the screen­ing, Ubah de­clined to speak with jour­nal­ists and zoomed off.

Ad­dress­ing the as­pi­rants and news­men ear­lier, the chair­man of the screen­ing com­mit­tee and for­mer min­is­ter of Po­lice Af­fairs, Adamu Maina Waziri, said there was a pe­ti­tion against one of the seven as­pi­rants, but de­clined to men­tion the name.

He, how­ever, ap­pealed to all the as­pi­rants to sup­port who­ever emerged as the party’s can­di­date, say­ing, “ev­ery one of us has some­thing to lose if we lost the Anam­bra election.”
