Nige­ria move up in lat­est FIFA rank­ing

De­spite not en­gag­ing in any in­ter­na­tional match in the month of July, the Su­per Eagles of Nige­ria have moved a step in the lat­est FIFA rank­ing as they are now ranked 38th in the world as against the pre­vi­ous 39th po­si­tion.

How­ever, the Eagles are stag­nant in sixth po­si­tion in the con­ti­nent as they are be­hind Cameroon, Tu­nisia, Sene­gal, Congo DR and Egypt.

Thus, the top five teams in Africa are Egypt (25), Congo DR. (28), Sene­gal (31), Tu­nisia (34) and Cameroon (35).

A fur­ther look at the FIFA rank­ing re­leased yes­ter­day shows that Nige­ria’s other op­po­nent in the race for Rus­sia 2018 World Cup are ranked be­hind the Su­per Eagles.

While the Desert Foxes of Al­ge­ria are in the 48th po­si­tion, the Chipolopolo of Zam­bia are in 9th place in the up­dated rank­ings.

Mean­while, Su­per Eagles ma­jor threat in the 2018 Africa Cup of Na­tions South Africa and Libya oc­cupy 66th and 83rd po­si­tion in the world just as the other group op­po­nent Sey­chelles are in the 194th po­si­tion.

While Egypt, Congo DR, Sene­gal, Tu­nisia, Cameroon, Nige­ria, Burk­ina Faso, Al­ge­ria, Ghana and Ivory Coast are the top ten teams in Africa, Brazil, Ger­many, Ar­gentina, Switzer­land, Poland, Por­tu­gal, Colom­bia, Bel­gium and France are the top ten teams in the world.
