Slain APC chieftain buried

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Victor Sorokwu, Asaba

Tears flowed uncontrollably as mourners and loved ones besieged the graveside for the interment of the remains of late Festus Ashiedu, Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oshimili North LGA of Delta State over the weekend in Okpanam.

Okpanam community youths, led by Comrade Friday Okonkwo wailed inconsolably as they could still not come to reality that their icon and vibrant lawyer was gone.

The late Ashiedu was shot dead by gunmen at Globe Supermarket, Okpanam, on the 27th of July, 2017, sparking rife insinuations within Delta APC that his death was politically masterminded.

However, the Delta State Police Command officially refuted the claim that Ashiedu was assassinated when the Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim paraded a gang of five armed robbery suspects who gave graphic account of the robbery that led to Ashiedu being shot.
