Abia rehabilitates 500 rural roads
Over 500 rural roads are to be rehabilitated in Abia under the Abia State Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP) in collaboration with World Bank financing project and the Federal Government.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ workshop in Umuahia on the prioritization of intervention areas and rural road links in the state, the National Coordinator of Rural Access Mobility Projects (RAMP) Mr Ularamu Ubandoma stated that the programme was organized to bring people in the rural areas together to contribute their ideas on the roads selected for construction in the areas.
He explained that out of seven states that had participated in the first phase of the project, Cross River and Kaduna states had completed the project by constructing a total of 1000 kilometers of rural roads in their areas.
In a message to the occasion, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, represented by
the Commissioner for Finance Mr Obinna Oriaku stated that his administration in collaboration with the World Bank and Federal Government was working towards developing rural roads.
