Abia re­ha­bil­i­tates 500 ru­ral roads

Over 500 ru­ral roads are to be re­ha­bil­i­tated in Abia un­der the Abia State Ru­ral Ac­cess and Mo­bil­ity Project (RAMP) in col­lab­o­ra­tion with World Bank fi­nanc­ing project and the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment.

Speak­ing dur­ing a stake­hold­ers’ work­shop in Umuahia on the pri­or­i­ti­za­tion of in­ter­ven­tion ar­eas and ru­ral road links in the state, the Na­tional Co­or­di­na­tor of Ru­ral Ac­cess Mo­bil­ity Projects (RAMP) Mr Ularamu Uban­doma stated that the pro­gramme was or­ga­nized to bring peo­ple in the ru­ral ar­eas to­gether to con­trib­ute their ideas on the roads se­lected for con­struc­tion in the ar­eas.

He ex­plained that out of seven states that had par­tic­i­pated in the first phase of the project, Cross River and Kaduna states had com­pleted the project by con­struct­ing a to­tal of 1000 kilo­me­ters of ru­ral roads in their ar­eas.

In a mes­sage to the oc­ca­sion, Gover­nor Okezie Ik­peazu, rep­re­sented by

the Com­mis­sioner for Fi­nance Mr Obinna Ori­aku stated that his ad­min­is­tra­tion in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the World Bank and Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment was work­ing to­wards de­vel­op­ing ru­ral roads.
