CITY NEWS I am disappointed by work on Kuje-Gwagwalada road – Minister
The FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, has expressed disappointment over the handling of rehabilitation work of Kuje-Gwagwalada road.
Bello, who stated this while inspecting the project, berated officials of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) for poor work supervision.
He said, “That is why we are spending so much money but the rural areas are not getting any project.”
He said the FCT Administration has spent over N60 billion on many projects with little result.
He expressed disappointment on the pace and nature of work done on the Kuje- Gwagwalada road.
He said all major projects within Abuja city, earlier faced with funding problem, were almost completed.
He said to one of the contractors, “Honestly, I am very disappointed in your work on Kuje-Gwagwalada road. Each project I go to and see your work, I feel highly disappointed.
“What this gentleman is saying that he is concentrating on the carriage way and will later do the shoulder is just double work. Why don’t you just go ahead with both the carriage way, drainage and shoulder?” he queried.
He said he had directed that funds be released to the contractor to facilitate timely completion of the project and with good quality.
The minister told the Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Haruna Jibrin Tanko, to always ply the road to monitor the project. He also told the contractor to keep the traditional ruler abreast of happenings on the work.
City News gathered that the 8.6 kilometres KujeGwagwalada road was awarded in 2010, to three different companies, but is yet to be completed.
