2,600 Kano workers get over N500m vehicle loan

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Yusha’u A. Ibrahim, Kano

Kano State Government has offered N500 million vehicle loans to 2,600 civil servants, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said.

Presenting cheques to the beneficiaries at the graduation ceremony of 550 youths who were trained in plumbing, tailoring, Plaster of Paris (POP) and welding, Ganduje said the gesture was aimed at boosting the morale of workers.

Ganduje said apart from prompt payment of salaries, government deemed it necessary to improve the wellbeing of its workers, hence provided the loan for them.

The state Commissioner for Local Government, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, said the Ganduje-led administration had since inception empowered thousands of youths in the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner of Finance, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago, said the vehicle loan scheme was suspended in the state for about five years.

“We got 8,000 applicants. We have offered the loan to 2,600 now and by next month we will recover some money and give same to another set of applicants and we will sustain this system until all applicants benefit from the scheme,” he said.
