CITY NEWS Truck rams into cars, okada, kill one in Gwar­inpa

Atruck has rammed into three ve­hi­cles and two com­mer­cial tri­cy­cles pop­u­larly called Keke NAPEP killing one per­son in Gwar­inpa.

The driver at­trib­uted the ac­ci­dent to brake fail­ure.

A po­lice source said the ac­ci­dent oc­curred at about 12 noon on Wed­nes­day when the truck driver, driv­ing to­wards Third Av­enue Junc­tion from Mr Biggs axis, lost con­trol of the ve­hi­cle and swerved into a shop­ping plaza by the road­side.

The source said the ve­hi­cles and Keke NAPEP where parked when the truck rammed into them.

City News learnt that the Tip­per with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber XA 335 QUP in­jured one of the tri­cy­cles’ pas­sen­gers who later died while re­ceiv­ing treat­ment at hospi­tal.

The Gwar­inpa Divi­sional Po­lice Of­fi­cer, CSP Nu­rud­deen Sabo, con­firmed the in­ci­dent.

“As a re­sult of the ac­ci­dent, one Lawan Garba of Kado Biko sus­tained se­ri­ous in­jury and was rushed to Fed­eral Staff Clinic where he died while re­ceiv­ing treat­ment,” he said.

He said the truck driver, Ali Ab­dul­lahi, has been ar­rested.

Sabo said the driver at­trib­uted the ac­ci­dent to brake fail­ure but pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tions re­vealed that he was on speed when the ac­ci­dent hap­pened.

“The driver is in our cus­tody and in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing,” he said.
